Spanning an impressive 272 square metres, The Playground is our largest and most versatile studio. This is the photography studio in Amsterdam where creative entrepreneurs, photographers, and brands can bring their wildest ideas to life. Here, you are immersed in an earthy colour palette reminiscent of the desert—rich browns, terracotta, and sandy hues, complemented by shades of grey and anthracite. Warm accents, unique design pieces, striking textures, and stunning lighting define The Playground.

Create without limits in this unique studio space

Its minimalist design, distinctive wall textures, and the ability to experiment with staircases, viewpoints, and natural light make The Playground a dream location for shoots. Whether you're working on a high-end fashion campaign, an editorial shoot, or artistic product photography, this space offers endless possibilities. In this blog, we take you through the various sections of the studio and provide all practical details about its dimensions—so you can step in fully prepared!

Ready to step into your most beautiful daydreams? The Playground is located on the ground floor, with parking available right outside. These spaces, however, are not ours and are subject to Amsterdam’s municipal parking fees. At the front door, you’ll find an intercom, and the garage door has a control panel at the bottom left—handy to know!

Upon entering The Playground, you step into an open space where you’ll immediately find a coffee corner equipped with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, and Quooker. This ensures your creative team has unlimited coffee or tea throughout the shoot. Additionally, there are two restrooms and a dedicated make-up area, allowing you or your models to prepare thoroughly.

As you move further in, you’ll find the impressive studio space, standing 4.42 metres high and featuring a large skylight. To the left, you’ll immediately spot the iconic double staircase in grey tones, measuring 1,800 mm in total width and 4,600 mm in length. This is the studio’s showpiece and an essential tool for creating dynamic imagery. The lower, additional stair section is movable and rotatable, allowing you to fully experiment with perspective and composition.

Behind you, a pink wall features an arched doorway 1,650 mm wide, with curtains. This allows you to separate the general area from the studio, maintaining a clean and minimalist aesthetic during your shoot. Play with texture and depth: discover The Playground’s versatility

To the right of the studio, you’ll find the striking terracotta-pink wall, spanning an impressive 7,570 mm in width. Curious about the stunning colours on our walls? In this blog, you can read all about the unique collaboration between Art-In-Return and The Farm.

Mounted on the wall is a breathtaking triptych by Art-In-Return, alongside a stylish sofa with a silver circular swing. This setup is perfect for both fashion and portrait photography, where the combination of warm colours and clean lines creates a visually striking balance.

Further to the right, a built-in staircase sits within a wall featuring a semi-arched passage, 1,000 mm wide. This opening is a fantastic way to introduce depth and perspective into your images. From both sides, it offers a unique photography opportunity, where the interplay of light and shadow adds an extra dimension to your work.

Walking through the archway, you arrive at the centre of the studio, where a large north-facing skylight provides a constant, soft influx of light. For photographers who love to experiment with lighting, The Playground offers an additional option: the roof can be accessed at your own risk. Here, you can place extra lighting or darken the area if needed, though we do not provide blackout curtains or equipment. A high-end studio with thoughtfully designed details

At the back of the studio, on the right, you'll find a striking green wall measuring 6,700 mm in width. In the afternoon—around 2:30 PM—sunlight streams in from the west, casting a stunning warm glow on the surface. Here, you’ll also find a freestanding set piece in the form of a wide arch, which can be moved and styled to suit your needs, offering extra flexibility for various photography and video productions.

To the left, at the back, there is a sand-coloured wall, 6,400 mm wide, once again featuring unique three-dimensional artwork by Art-In-Return. Adjacent to this wall stands a five-metre-wide wooden doorway in a rich, dark brown tone. The combination of wood and deep brown hues lends a sophisticated look to the space.

You’ve probably already noticed that the windows in The Playground are truly spectacular. The east-facing window panels are already large, measuring 1,500 mm high and 9,970 mm wide. But the west-facing windows are even more impressive, standing at a remarkable 4,400 mm high and 9,970 mm wide! This ensures perfect lighting conditions at any time of the day.
