We recently welcomed Studio Måndag Studio Måndag to our New York City-inspired daylight studio, The Loft. This interior design brand, known for its Scandinavian-inspired simplicity and powerful mirrors, used our space for their latest lookbook shoot.
The unique signature of Studio Måndag
First of all, a word about this awesome brand. Studio Måndag stands out in the interior design world by combining sustainability and conscious use of materials. ‘Our designs are made to stand out in a competitive market,’ Marieke explains. ‘We make conscious choices for natural materials and work from a process where simplicity and aesthetics go hand in hand.’ This philosophy reflects the values of the modern, confident woman - a central theme in Studio Måndag's work. Nice detail: the designs are enriched with round, soft shapes. At the same time, thanks to robust and solid materials, they are also tough and powerful. Exactly the way we women are!Studio Måndag is an extension of the founders' vision and personality. ‘My designs reflect my values: authenticity, strength and perseverance. I hope women will recognise themselves in this and be inspired to stay true to themselves.’

Scandi minimalism
The designs have a distinct Scandi feel and exude calmness and minimalism. Marieke explains: ‘This forces you to focus on essential elements. In a world where we are exposed to unnecessary stimuli anyway, it is nice to have your home base in balance. Here you can let the power of simplicity do its work’.
The name Studio Måndag refers to a fresh start. Marieke shares her own insight: ‘A moment to start afresh is actually to take a fresh look at where my own needs lie, revise and make more conscious choices. And those needs can vary enormously: from doing a delicious cup of coffee to going on a nice trip. I do believe in starting afresh every day and organising your life differently. In the past year, I have really made a new start myself. I can recommend it to everyone, look at yourself in the mirror regularly. Are you still happy with what is in front of you? If not, start again!’

For the shoot of their latest collection, Studio Måndag deliberately chose The Loft. ‘The minimalist look, combined with playful elements, immediately felt like a perfect match for our mirrors,’ explains Marieke. ‘The high ceilings and large windows provided beautiful natural light, even on a winter day. That really made working here a pleasure.’
The Loft is designed to offer versatility, with various nooks and settings that are easy to customise. ‘It was nice to be able to create different atmospheres in one space. This flexibility helped us to present each design in a unique way,’ she explains. ‘In addition, the homey atmosphere of the studio adds to the warmth we wanted to capture in our images.’

Entrepreneurship and creativity
What, according to Marieke, is the key to maintaining the right balance between entrepreneurship and creative inspiration? ‘I think it's a combination of awareness and flexibility. Not everything has to be perfect at the same time. I think many entrepreneurs have a creative side. To be an entrepreneur, it's nice to be creative and flexible anyway. I personally really enjoy alternating that creativity with the strategic work. It is great to be able to work with my hands again now and then’.
