You've probably seen The Loft pass by before, and probably already have an idea of what our studio looks like in terms of look and feel. Still, I regularly get more practical questions from creative people who want to book The Loft. So we like to take you through The Loft in blog form, and tell you about all the photo possibilities. And I can tell you: there are plenty. In addition, I will provide you with all practical information regarding measurements, so you will be optimally prepared. Let's go!
New York Vibes photo studio in Amsterdam: The Loft's Urban Cool
The Loft is in a collective building with more cool companies, and is accessible via a passenger elevator. When you enter, you immediately spot our little kitchen that you can use to serve yourself all day. The kitchen is equipped with glasses, dishes, a Nespresso machine and a refrigerator. You'll also find beautiful photo props, and slippers for everyone on the team to wear during the shoot. This immediately gives a cozy feeling. When you step through the curtain you enter this beauty of a studio. I wanted to bring that typical New York City feeling to Amsterdam in the form of an urban cool look, but with a soothing ambiance.
The luxurious photo studio is as large as 125 square meters, making this the perfect place to go all out with all types of photography and videography. When you step inside, a feeling of relaxation and tranquility overwhelms you. This is not only because of the neutral colors, but also because of the natural materials and organic shapes you see there. I not only continued these shapes in the walls with arches where you can pose playfully, but also in all the accessories and furniture. Good to know: the entire studio is 15.3m long.
For example, the three windows on the right, placed near the dining table (ideal for make-up), are 2.5 meters high. In the back right, on the raised piece, you can see another window as tall as 2.75 meters. This corner is widely used for playful mirror pics: there is a super stylish mirror.
Play of Light in Abundance: Natural Beauty at photo studio The Loft
The ceiling of The Loft is as high as 4.5 meters, and the large windows make the studio a bath of natural light throughout the day. In the morning you will find morning light coming from the east side, and in the afternoon it comes from the west side. But I must say that even on a rainy day, The Loft is a great experience to work in. Even on a less sunny day you will still find plenty of light, partly due to the light colors on the wall. There are windows on both the right and left sides. For example, the three windows on the right, placed near the dining table (ideal for make-up), are 2.5 meters high. Take next-level photos and videos with the stairs at The Loft: the photo studio in Amsterdam.
If you know me even slightly, you know that I have a love for stairs. With a special staircase you can really create an iconic atmosphere on film. The staircase in The Loft is 5 meters high and is the showpiece of the studio. Because of its width of 90 cm, you can really get great poses on it, and the staircase also lends itself to original product photography with lots of depth.
Next to the stairs, in the corner that is, there is a built-in closet 3.3 meters high. Of course, you can not only take photos in front of the closet, but also use the entire corner when you take the stairs with it. This really creates a living room feel: great for when you're taking photos for, say, the campaign of an interior design collection. Or how about a lookbook for a lingerie or loungewear brand? The closet is as much as 1.65 m wide, so you can vary it more than enough. The props in the closet can also be changed or left out to your heart's content.
A relaxed atmosphere with iconic designer furniture
When you walk back a bit, three low steps lead you to the stage. This raised piece is enriched with a seating area and is separated by a wall with three arches. This gives a fantastic 3D effect. The seating area features a modern Norr11 sofa, an armchair and handmade side tables. Also hanging here is the iconic swing that you can use to take great photos! The stage is 4.6 meters long, so it is definitely big enough for your entire team to work on it.In the back left corner you will find another set of large windows, and also two white-painted pillars that you can use for portrait photography or product photos, for example. With the flexible curtains hanging from the windows, you can shoot very dreamy images.

If you then walk down the steps again, you will arrive at the nooks on the left. Here there is a round table by MENU that has chairs and a Bolia rug for a playful look. On the wall, you'll find a stylish 1.2-meter-wide wooden wall piece and a daybed for beautiful reclining poses. I also had a built-in cabinet made in this corner, decorated with beautiful accessories. The wood, the daybed and the round shapes of the furniture give this corner a very relaxing vacation vibe.
