Bathed in the warm glow of daylight pouring through the tall, expansive windows of The Playground, 4×6 sofa hosted an inspiring lookbook shoot. Six sofas, each with its own unique character, came to life against a palette of earthy tones, iconic staircases, and a beautiful blend of textures and materials. We sat down with co-founder Suzanne to hear about the origins of the brand and why The Playground was the perfect setting.
From dream to design brand
What began as a dream in a temporarily occupied building in 2017 has grown into one of the fastest-rising interior brands in the Netherlands. Suzanne and Ellen – childhood friends with over twenty years of experience in fashion and interiors – decided to launch a clear and accessible sofa concept. Just six models, in twenty-four colours, with fixed pricing. Simplicity, transparency, and above all: joy in making a choice.
The combination of online configurators and a physical showroom experience is a deliberate choice. “People start their search online, but ultimately, they want to feel how a sofa sits, how a fabric feels. And they want to meet us. That personal connection really comes to life in the showroom.”
4x6 sofa at The Playground: a tribute to simplicity, modularity and style
For their latest campaign, 4x6 sofa chose to shoot at The Playground – the largest daylight studio of Atelier Oost Amsterdam. “It’s such a stunning space – it really elevated the look of our sofas,” says Suzanne. The pieces were photographed in a setting that felt just right: soft daylight, characterful walls , and architectural lines. “The nine-element setup we created there? It comes pretty close to our ideal living room. That’s the way you want to live, isn’t it?”Styling was taken to the next level thanks to a collaboration with Momo Rugs. “Rugs and sofas are a perfect pairing. We’ve worked with Vloerkledenwinkel for some time now, but never on location. Their wide range means there’s a match for every fabric and layout we offer.”
Vision for the future: simplicity as luxury
What sets 4x6 sofa apart is its unwavering focus on both simplicity and freedom. You choose from a well-curated range, but create something entirely personal. “We believe in the power of clarity – but with space for your own expression. That’s why people enjoy coming to the showroom to ‘puzzle’ things together, even if they’re travelling all the way from Belgium.”
And that appreciation hasn’t gone unnoticed. For the third year in a row, 4x6 sofa has been awarded the FD Gazelle – a prestigious title for the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands. “It’s a huge honour. It validates the hard work of our team and the trust of our customers.” And the best compliment they’ve ever received? “That people make a special trip to Naarden just to puzzle with the elements. The fact that they go out of their way – that will always feel special.”
