In our atmospheric photo studio, The Livingroom, we recently welcomed Cynthiaa Hakvoort: fashion and personal stylist, social media manager and UGC creator. Her mission? To translate style and ambience into a powerful visual story – whether for a personal wardrobe or a major brand campaign. In this blog post, you’ll read her story, her styling tips, and why The Livingroom has become her new favourite shoot location.
From blog to professional stylist
So who is this creative all-rounder Cynthiaa? ? “I’ve always been busy with creativity and style,” she explains. “As a teenager, I had my own blog, a YouTube channel and even a small jewellery brand. That love for fashion, marketing and media never went away.” After various studies and courses, she found her true passion: helping people feel good in what they wear.
As a personal stylist, Cynthiaa works one-to-one with clients to discover or refine their style. She also loves fashion styling for shoots and events, where she can think more out of the box and bring visual concepts to life. And as a social media manager and UGC creator , she combines her eye for style with strategic content thinking.
Style as a personal signature
Fresh, warm, honest – with a focus on genuine connection. That’s how Cynthiaa Hakvoort works, whether it’s a wardrobe refresh, a high-end fashion shoot or creating social content that truly resonates. For Cynthiaa, style goes far beyond a beautiful outfit.. “It’s about the balance between comfort and appearance. A suit with trainers, or a vintage blazer with a white top and jeans – it has to feel right for who you are. For me, clothing is a playful way to show who I am, every single day.”
One of her popular services is the Closet Refresh. During such a session, Cynthiaa often finds that clients are surprised by what they already own. “You don’t always have to buy something new. Sometimes you just need to look differently. Many people have a wardrobe full of clothes but keep wearing the same pieces. By creating new combinations and setting aside unworn items, you create space – both literally and in your mind. And what doesn’t suit you can make someone else happy.”

Personal styling vs. fashion styling for shoots
According to Cynthiaa, the main difference lies in the purpose. “Personal styling is more intimate. It’s about who someone is and how they want to feel in everyday life. With a shoot, you work more conceptually, thinking in images, and it can be more extreme or less practical. Both are beautiful in their own way.”For women planning a branding shoot, Cynthiaa’s tips are clear:
“And if you’re unsure, hire a stylist. It’s a small investment, but you’ll see the difference in the photos. They’ll feel more like you – and that’s exactly what you want to convey.”
Working in daylight studio The Livingroom in Amsterdam
Cynthiaa is enthusiastic about her experience in The Livingroom is Cynthiaa enthousiast: : “The interior is beautiful yet very functional. You step into a warm, homely setting where every corner is photogenic, but it never feels staged or forced. There’s a separate changing room, so you can get dressed in peace, and a kitchen where you can take a coffee break. It’s also handy to have a spot where you can keep things that shouldn’t be in shot – it keeps the workspace tidy and calm.”Her biggest highlight? The light. “The natural daylight streams in so beautifully that it instantly sets the mood and brings colours to life. You hardly need to do anything extra to give the photos a warm, inviting look. Plus, the different areas – from the soft sofa to the light wooden table setting – are arranged in a way that lets you create multiple looks and settings in one shoot.”
For those who want to become a stylist
For aspiring stylists, Cynthiaa offers a reassuring message: “You don’t need to know everything right away. Start small. Gain experience through collaborations, for example by working on personal projects with photographers and models. That way, you’ll discover what works for you.”
