A perfectly organized lunch or dinner is the perfect addition to your shoot day at Atelier Oost Amsterdam. Not only is food and drink indispensable anyway, you can also surprise your team or client with a well-chosen hotspot in the neighborhood. If you have to travel a bit further to get to Amsterdam, a nice hotel is no luxury either. In this blog I take you on a voyage of discovery along some of my most beloved lunch and dinner spots where you can order in and take out. But that's not all! We also share tips for charming hotels and some great cocktail spots to end a successful shoot. In short, this hotspot blog is your guide to an unforgettable day in Amsterdam while enjoying the creative spaces The Loft and The Playground.

Lunch hotspots Javastraat and Javaplein in Amsterdam

Hartje Oost – Javastraat 23
Hartje Oost is a popular spot where you can enjoy coffee, tea, (vegan) pastries and other treats. In addition to the coffee bar, which is perfect for lunch, Hartje Oost is also a great spot for fun gifts, interior decorating and artisan products.

Gallizia Deli – Javastraat 67
This restaurant combines Italian hospitality with an extensive menu and wine list. The Deli offers delicious sandwiches, coffee and home-imported products: ideal for a tasty lunch.
Bar Botanique – Eerste van Swindenstraat 581
This Insta-worthy restaurant in Amsterdam East is perfect for both lunch and dinner. Bar Botanique is known for its green and botanical atmosphere, complete with lots of plants and an interior reminiscent of a conservatory. The hotspot offers a varied menu with delicious options for (conscious) meat eaters, vegans and vegans alike.

Bar Basquiat – Javastraat 88-90
This well-known catering establishment is named after famous American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. It is an artistic place known for its creative atmosphere, artwork on the walls and vibrant community of visitors. Bar Basquiat offers a varied menu with dishes inspired by different cuisines, including brunch, lunch and dinner.

Louie Louie – Linnaeusstraat 11A
Louie Louie, located across from the Tropenmuseum, is known for its stylish interior and has an attractive décor that is both modern and cozy. The menu offers an array of dishes ranging from classic brunch choices to delicious dinner options, as well as a selection of cocktails. It's very easy to walk in here and quickly feel comfortable because of the relaxed, approachable vibe.

Hotels Amsterdam East: my favorites

StayOkay – Timorplein 21
StayOkay Timorplein has the perfect location because it is literally around the corner from The Loft is located, as well as being a great base for other to do's in the neighborhood. Consider the Tropenmuseum, Oosterpark and the Dapper Market. The very affordable hotel has a bar, restaurant and a nice lounge and also organizes regular activities for guests.

Hotel Arena – ‘s Gravesandestraat 55
For anyone who likes a little more luxury, Hotel Arena is perfect. Located in Oosterpark, this stylish hotel in Amsterdam combines historic architecture with contemporary design. As a former courthouse and later a cultural center, Hotel Arena has a rich history, offering guests a unique experience in beautiful surroundings.

Lloyd Hotel – Oostelijke Handelskade 34
Like Hotel Arena, the Lloyd Hotel has a rich history: in fact, it is located in a historic building that once served as a prison. My food hotspots in Amsterdam Oost for the best dining experience after your shoot

Spaghetteria – Javaplein 7
Spaghetteria is an Italian restaurant chain that specializes in serving delicious Italian pasta. They offer a simple but tasty menu with a variety of dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. Spaghetteria is also known for its cozy atmosphere and affordable prices.

Wilde Zwijnen – Javaplein 23
This restaurant is loved for its focus on seasonal and locally produced food. Wilde Zwijnen offers a varied menu of Dutch and European dishes, with an emphasis on game and poultry, in an informal and cozy atmosphere.

Bar Bachrach – Javaplein 25
Here you will eat Middle Eastern and Mediterranean in a modern way, enjoying the ambiance of a food bar and wine bar in one. The dishes are prepared with local, seasonal Dutch produce and are perfect for both shared dining and an extended dinner.

Pompstation – Zeeburgerdijk 52
Pompstation Amsterdam is, what's in a name, a former pumping station and is known for its unique industrial look and historical significance. Here you will eat your steak tartare or vegetarian dishes while enjoying live music!

Foer Amsterdam – Cruquiusweg 9
This Michelin restaurant is located in a classic building with lots of windows and high ceilings. It is the ideal hot spot for anyone craving an upscale evening of fine dining with a focus on vegetables and spices. The wine here is also incredibly good.

Imagine yourself in Caribbean spheres and enjoy tropical cocktails and original tapas. You can also do a real rum tasting here!

Studio K – Timorplein 62
Studio K is a cultural center around the corner from The Loft that offers a combination of a movie theater, a café-restaurant and an event space. It is a popular destination for film screenings, art exhibitions and social events in the city.

In addition to the above two cocktail hotspots, I also definitely recommend you visit the aforementioned Bar Basquiat and Bar Botanique! Indeed, both places are the ideal address to go wild after drinking. Combine different hotspots above with each other and expand your studio shoot at Atelier Oost Amsterdam with a day full of delicious food and great memories.
