Recently, our in-house team came together once again for a campaign shoot, this time in the newly transformed The Playground. The goal? To inspire you and showcase just how much is possible within this incredible space.
The new earthy tones, refined textures and sculptural shapes already create a stunning backdrop on their own. And yet, we felt the shoot needed one final element: flowers. Not as the main attraction, but as a subtle extension of the colour palette. A styling detail that brings calm, adds movement and enhances the softness and femininity of the space. Exactly as we had envisioned.
Thinking of incorporating flowers into your next shoot? Let the images, and the creative vision of stylist and art director Edith Scharloo, inspire you.

Editorial styling with flowers in a daylight studio
For the campaign, Edith collaborated with Amsterdam-based floral studio Bloom & Wolf. "They brought five beautifully curated silk flower bouquets to the studio, and from there we started playing with colour, shape and composition."Rather than placing large floral arrangements centre stage, we chose individual stems and bouquets that naturally blended into the space. Edith explains: "The deep burgundy bouquet looked magical against the soft pink wall. Organic shapes echoed the curved furniture, while the colours perfectly complemented the bespoke paint finishes by The Farm x Art-In-Return.".
The result? As if the flowers had always belonged in The Playground.

Photographing with flowers: less really is more
Flowers might just be one of the most versatile styling tools you can bring to a shoot, simply because there are so many ways to use them. Edith shares a few of her favourite styling tips: "Ask your model to hold a flower delicately in front of her face for a subtle pop of colour. Use single stems to introduce movement into the frame, or position a bouquet just outside the shot to create extra depth without stealing the focus.".
In our daylight studio , flowers do exactly what you hope they will: they catch the light beautifully and add texture without overwhelming the image. Want to take things a step further? Bring along a continuous light or projector and experiment with shadows. By placing flowers between your light source and your model, you can create organic shadow patterns that instantly add an editorial feel. Combined with The Playground's beautifully diffused daylight, every frame feels unique. It's this balance of natural light, sculptural forms and floral styling that makes every setting feel different.

Why we chose silk flowers
For this campaign, we intentionally worked with the silk flowers from Bloom & Wolf. "Not only because they look incredibly realistic on camera, but also because their philosophy aligns perfectly with ours. At Atelier Oost Amsterdam, we love collaborating with brands that make conscious choices. Creativity and sustainability can absolutely go hand in hand. Their beautifully crafted silk flowers bring the same elegance and atmosphere as fresh flowers, while being enjoyed time and time again.".
For a campaign shoot , that means more creative freedom, less waste and styling that looks flawless from the first shot to the last.

Let The Playground inspire your next shoot
Our latest campaign proves that you don't need an abundance of props to create something beautiful. A thoughtfully designed space. Glowing daylight. A soft, feminine colour palette. And a carefully chosen selection of flowers. Sometimes, it's the smallest styling choices that make the biggest impact.
So, if you're planning a shoot in The Playgroundsoon, why not bring along some flowers? Fresh or silk. Use them as a subtle colour accent, a styling prop or as a playful element between your model and the camera. One thing's for sure: they have a way of making every image bloom.
